COURSE LISTING: EDFL 208

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT: Freshman/Sophomore

PURPOSE(S) OF COURSE:

  1. To acquaint college students with the real world of classroom teacher
  2. To give students additional input for wise and early career decisions

SPECIFIC STUDENT ACTIVITIES:

  1. Assist classroom teacher in the performance of instructional and non instructional duties.
  2. Work with students under direct supervision.

PROCEDURES:

The UL Lafayette student is assigned to a teacher at a public or private school by the Coordinator of Early Field Experiences, with the approval of the principal of the school and the director of the program. The student maintains a log of each classroom visit which is endorsed by the assigned teacher each time. The UL Lafayette instructor monitors this log at mid-semester and at the end of the semester.

EVALUATION:

At the end of each semester, the assigned teacher evaluates the student based on his/her performance as a teacher assistant. At that time, also,the student assesses program. Each group has an opportunity to identify strengths of the field experiences program and to suggest areas needing improvement.
