Accreditation

The college has been nationally accredited since 1954 by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and was the first university in the state of Louisiana to receive this honor. In 2013, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) consolidated to from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The College of Education and Human Development currently holds accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Accreditation from CAEP is highly respected and serves as a marker of high standards.

National Accreditation was granted by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette College of Education and Human Development at the initial-licensure level.  This current accreditation status is effective Fall 2019 through Fall 2024. The next site visit will take place in Spring 2024. The table includes a list of all Initial Programs that were part of the last accreditation review cycle which began in 2016. CAEP has four accountability measures which are used to provide information to the public on both program outcome and program. (AY – Annual Year) (AR – Annual Report)

  • Measure 2 (Initial and Advanced): Employer satisfaction and stakeholder involvement (R4.2, R5.3, RA4.1)

Title II Annual Reports

The College of Education and Human Development also adheres to the Teacher Preparation Program requirements as outlined by the regional institution accreditation (SACSCOC), the University System and Board of Regents (BOR), the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE), the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), and compliance with Title II Higher Education Act.

  • In 2022, the Department of Counseling received an 8-year accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
     
  • Our Educational Leadership program in the Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership is highly regarded by local school districts and is known for producing graduates with strong leadership knowledge and skills. In addition, our leadership preparation program is nationally recognized and accredited by the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC).
  • Our undergraduate program in the School of Kinesiology is nationally recognized and accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the National Association of Sport & Physical Education (NASPE).
